HAPPINESS

Image

happiness_watermarkWOW! IT HAS BEEN A WHILE!
So, so sorry that I’ve disappeared for quite a long time! Between work and life stuffs, I haven’t time nor energy for artwork, so I’ve been away for about a year.

I’m still not fully back (can’t take commissions), but at the very least I wanted to start arting for myself again to work out all the rust I’ve accumulated since I’ve been away. My post today was inspired by a cute dog photo I saw on my Facebook feed one day:

Originally this wasn’t going to be a new version of feral Kaze that has been floating around in my head for months, but once I started to flesh this piece out, I just knew I had to draw feral Kaze in one of her more “canine” moments. (She is part husky after all. LOL!)

This was a practice with fabric and fur in Paint Tool SAI using a friend of mine’s character, Khai. He’s a shy little rat, but very sweet.

The colors for the beanbag chair Khai is sitting on and the background color are suggestions from the character’s owner. They are supposed to clash because that’s how it is seen in his head.

Lilli is a stray dog in a big city, so she is often seen laying on rusty dumpsters, just staring into the night sky, wishing that she could just leave the city behind. However, the light from the street lamps always block the view. It’s sad.

Sketched, inked, and coloring in Paint Tool SAI.
Lines colored in Photoshop.

I’ve had Paint Tool SAI sitting on my desktop for a LONG time, so I finally decided to crack down and make an attempt at digital painting with it.

There are NO lines to this, which is something I have NEVER done. Despite that, I feel as if this is a small victory. Not perfect, but still pretty awesome looking.

I have a new found love in Paint Tool SAI now. ‚̧

Kaze Yarn Tail: Progress Shots (To Be Added Onto Until Completed)

At the end of June, I decided to make a realistic-looking canine tail based on a tutorial I found on YouTube. The purpose of this tail was to replace another one that I made last year that was a shag rug sewed together in the shape of a tail and stuffed with Poly-Fill. (I also made a set of ears too out of the same rug, and put them on a headband.)

Because the tail is¬†so heavy, the yarn tail seemed perfect because it’s more realistic looking and light weight, which truly inspired me to do this.
The base of the yarn tail is made from 60, 2.5 ft long individual pieces of black  yarn braided together and tied to a ring. The tail, when finished, will probably be composed of hundreds of pieces of yarn balls, as described in the video.
(Please note that all images are taken with my iPod Touch and posted to Twitter as I go along for cataloging purposes. The quality suffers because of that, however.)

Kaze Icon (Animated)

Please view here:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8228624/

My original intention was to make this an icon for my art and personal websites. However, because this was the first time I’ve ever done this, I got the dimensions wrong and Flash did not like that. So, in order to fix my mistake, I had to edit it in Photoshop.

Posted in the link is the original SWF file.
